Dr. James Naismith, born in Almonte, ON, invented the game of “basket ball” in December 1891. Beginning with 13 rules written over two pages, Naismith organized two teams of nine players. Nailing two peach baskets to a balcony and using a soccer ball, the first-ever game was played on December 21, 1891. This art print featuring clear and gold foil is printed on premium paper stock in Canada, and includes a list of abbreviated rules. The full list of Dr. Naismith’s original rules is also included.
